2 Feeders must be qualified single dairy breed male calves. HOLSTEIN or BROWN SWISS ONLY!  

3 Dairy Feeders  No Ayrshire  No Guernsey  No Jersey  No Milking Shorthorn

4 Now This Is What You Should Be Looking For … Dairy Breed Characteristics No Hernias or Abnormalities Healthy Calves

5 Not Holstein Breed Character Black or red hair beginning at the hoof and extending unbroken to or above the knee. One or more legs encircled with black or red hair that touches the hoof at any point.

6 Not Holstein Breed Character  Black or Red hair in the last 5 cms of the tail. Look For Calves With White Tails! Last 5 cms of the tail bone must be WHITE!

7 The switch should be a chocolate brown/black (no light shades). Solid dark charcoal grey/black nose with no spots! Solid dark charcoal gray/black hooves (no discolorings).

8 At the May Weigh-In – May 9, 2015  Feeders must be castrated and dehorned by the May 9 weigh-in.  A 3 rd party dairy evaluator hired by the Fair Board will inspect every dairy feeder to determine if it is a qualified single dairy breed male using breed standard color markings as described in the previous slides.  In addition, calves will be evaluated for absence of severe abnormalities (ie. Hernias) and desirable dairy confirmation traits.  Any decision made by the dairy evaluator on a dairy feeder’s qualification as a single dairy breed of Holstein or Brown Swiss is FINAL !

10  In Member’s Possession & Care By May Tag-In  May Tag-In - Sat., May 9, 8 AM – 11 AM, Cattle Arena $7 per feeder  2 nd Vaccination & Health Paper Checks - Tue., June 9, 6-7 PM, Greenon H.S. - Wed., June 10, 6-7 PM, NWMS - Sat., June 13, 8-10 AM, Fairgrounds 2 nd Vaccinations must be done by a licensed veterinarian by July 1, 2015 or you can not show and sale your dairy feeder. The feeder will not be weighed and will be sent home with the exhibitor. Skill-a-thon Topics Meat Cuts Nutrition Body Parts Health Management  Dairy Skill-a-thon Mon., June 22 and Tues., June 23, 4-8 PM, Arts & Crafts Bldg. Fgrds.

11  Fair Weigh-In, Fri., July 24, 6 PM-9 PM, Cattle Arena  Showmanship, Sun., July 26, 4 PM, Cattle Arena  Show, Mon., July 27, 4 PM Cattle Arena  Auction, Wed., July 29, 1 PM, Sheep Arena Dairy Feeders must weigh 300 to 650 pounds to show and sale at the Clark County Fair!

12 One (1) form All Dairy Feeders Shown By An Exhibitor Must Complete To Verify Country of Origin And That You Did Not feed ruminant derived animal proteins At Fair Weigh-In You must Present… Health Papers Issued No Later than July 1, 2015 Producer Affidavit

13  Possession Date June 1 – Own or Lease Project Animal!  Show Entry Deadline June 1 to the Extension Office  Skill-a-thon – Mon., June 22 & Tues., June 23, 4-8 PM, Arts & Crafts Building, Fairgrounds  Show, Sat., July 25, 4 PM beginning with Showmanship  Milk Auction, Wed., July 29, 1 PM, Sheep Arena Dairy Princess Any girl age 14 to 18 exhibiting a dairy female or dairy feeder may enter.
