It is composed only of binary digits 0 and 1.  Assembly Language: Consists of both binary numbers and simple words. Also recognized as Mnemonics  High Level Programming Language: Complex elements can be simplified.  COBOL: Third-generation programming. 11 Grace Hopper  Born in 1906.  American Navy officer also mathematician.  Invented the first compiler (1952)  Helped develop the Flow- Matic programming language (1957) and the first commercial electronic computer. Karen Ma

12 Annie Eastley  Born 1933 in Birmingham, Alabama.  Working at the National Aeronautics and Space Administrations Lewis Research Center.  Developed and implemented computer codes that are used to determine solar, wind and energy projects for NASA. Karen Ma

13 Jean Sammet  Born 1928 in New York City.  Worked at Sylvania Electric Products and managed the basic software development.  Created the computer languages such as FLOW-MATIC, LISP, BASIC and COBOL. Karen Ma
