Perseverance leads to Success There is no denying that on the road to success, we might meet lots of obstacles. However, as long as we persevere, we will succeed in reaching our goals at last. Many cases have prove the truth that perseverance leads to success. Take Paul Wylie, a famous American figure skater as a typical example. Paul took part in the 1988 Calgary Olympics and 1991 World Championships, but

his performance was so impressive that after the 91’s World Championships he was advised to quit. Paul himself had frequently thought of retirement, but he continued anyway. He decided not to give up. At last, his perseverance paid off. He won a silver medal at the 1992 Winter Olympic Games at the age of 27 and became an Olympic hero.

Another typical example is how light ball was invented by Edison, the famous inventor. He had tried countless times before the light ball was born. If he did not persevere, we might still live in darkness at night. In summary, as long as we keep on and never give up, we will turn our dreams into reality now matter how many difficulties lie in the way.

Essay 2 Will E-books Replace Traditional Books? 1. 随着信息技术的发展, 电子图书越来越多 2. 有人认为电子图书会取代传统图书, 理由 是 …… 3. 我的看法

Will E-books Replace Traditional Books? With the development of information technology, an increasing number of e-books are available to people. Compared with traditional books, e-books are less expensive and easy to carry around. Therefore, some people claim that e-books will replace traditional books someday. However, as far as I am concerned, e-books will not and can’t take the place

of traditional books due to the following factors. For one thing, some people don’t like reading books on a screen because it makes their eyes water. For another, many books are unavailable in digital forms because of copyright. Many authors are unwilling to have their hard-accomplished books duplicated and disseminated for free.

Therefore/ All in all, traditional books will co-exist with e-books despite the popularity of e-books. A reader who falls in love with a book may still want to own it in the printed form, even if he had read it in an electronic form.

Should Students Be Skeptical about What ’ s Taught Most Chinese students are used to believing that teachers are truth-holders in class and their authority is unquestionable. They are afraid of voicing their own opinions, let alone questioning the authority of teachers. However, in my opinion, skepticism is a valuable spirit in academic life. / Being skeptical about what is taught in class is valuable.

For one thing, as an old saying goes to human to error, teachers, as human beings, are not perfect and do make mistakes. So unquestioning acceptance does great harm. For another, when doubting what is taught, students will be eager to seek the truth, either by resorting to reference books or by turning to teachers for further arguments. Undoubtedly, students will benefit greatly from the truth- seeking process. What’s more, when they have

fun in learning, their interest in what is taught will grow and interest is the best teacher. Therefore, students should be encouraged to adopt a skeptical attitude in class. Only by challenging the authority and generating their own ideas can students develop their creativity and gain academic independence.
