1 The Terrible Perfect Present

2 Jn 1:1-2, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. The Word was God Jesus was and is God.

3 Jn 1:3, all things were made through him. Col 1:16, for by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth … all things were created through him and for him.

4 Jn 1:4, In him was life, and that life was the light of men. Jn 10:10, I have come that they may have life and have it to the full (abundantly). Jn 1:4, in him was life, and that life was the light of men. We have been living in darkness since the fall of man.

5 Jn 1:5,9, The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. The darkness is the sins of the people.

6 Jn 3:19, The light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.

7 Jn 1:11-12, He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Jimmy Kimmel’s challenge “I give my kids a terrible present”

9 12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. Some people believe and gladly receive the perfect present from God. “I got a banana!”

13 Jesus is the perfect present from God to sinners. Jesus was and is the only human who was able to obey God’s perfect Law; lived a perfect life and then completely paid for our sins with his sinless life.

14 Jn 1:12, Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. Jn 1:13, Children who were born, not of blood, or of the will of man but born of God.

15 Jn 3:5-6, I tell you the truth, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

16 When I was born, when I live in the flesh I broke God’s Law and destined to die for my own sins. All crimes are sins but not all sins are crimes.

17 When I was born again, when I live by the Spirit I have a new life and I am destined to live forever with God The perfect righteousness of Christ is credited to my new life.

18 Jesus didn’t come to start a new holiday, a family tradition and to help the economy. Jesus came to save sinners. Jesus came to pay for your sins so you won’t have to. Jesus came to die for you so you can live for him.

19 God sent Jesus to you so that God can reconcile us to himself through Jesus.

20 Christmas is a reminder that God has a perfect present for you. Do you reject Christ as a terrible present? Do you receive Christ as the perfect present?
