-As İ lhan was looking for new subjects and writing, he benefited from the period he lived in Paris. -He reflected his experiences and observations on his characters.

İlhan’s first novels Sokaktaki Adam(The man on the Street) and Zenciler Birbirine Benzemez (People Don’t Resemble) symbolize his preparation and researching period. The novel Zenciler Birbirine Benzemez (Black People Don’t Resemble) is about a revolutionist who encounters with communist & anti-communist refugees in Europe. This man is devastated and frustrated because of the people and events he has confronted. Sokaktaki Adam (The Man on the Street) is about a man who estranges himself from the society so as to adopt European Practices.

İ lhan wrote this series between 1909- 1960. The serial consists of 7 books and describes the Independence War of Turks and the events of that time. It also illustrates Mustafa Kemal’s life.

-The main theme is the developing process of capitalism in Turkey. -In this frame social and economic constitutions are analyzed.

-Ben Sana Mecburum (I am Compelled to You) is the most well-known poem he wrote. It’s about love. -In his book İ lhan gathered his poems in five different chapters. -Therefore the book also includes themes like; political atmosphere of the time, agitations, tension, boycotts, rebellions, impossible love stories and longing for liberty.

-Duvar(The Wall), 3. Ş ahsın Ş iiri (Poem of the Third Person) and Pia are the other successful poems of İ lhan. -The Poem “Duvar” (The Wall) was written for the walls which were destroyed throughout the 2.World War. -The poems”3. Ş ahsın Ş iiri” ( Poem of the Third Person) and Pia are based on love.

He translated the works of one of the most renowned poets of the 20th century; Czech Vitezslav, into Turkish. The themes of the poems were mostly about passion, lust and love.

ABBAS YOLCU TIME TO GO -This book consists of various articles about İ lhan’s journeys and was written between 1949- 1952. -These articles were published in a magazine called “Varlık” and admired by many readers. -For that period it was entirely a new style of writing and consequently it drew many people’s attention. -All of the articles were about adventure he experienced.

. -Attila İ lhan’s social analysis was supported by his evaluation of Atatürk’s actions in the Independence War. -In his works, he praised Atatürk and regarded him as the perfect commander and leader.

In some of his works İ lhan wrote about Atatürk’s aims, his friends the wars under his commandership and rebellions of that time.
