2 Kings 13:14-19 (NIV) 14 Now Elisha was suffering from the illness from which he died. Jehoash king of Israel went down to see him and wept over him. “My father! My father!” he cried. “The chariots and horsemen of Israel!” 15 Elisha said, “Get a bow and some arrows,” and he did so. 16 “Take the bow in your hands,” he said to the king of Israel. When he had taken it, Elisha put his hands on the king’s hands.

2 Kings 13:14-19 (NIV) 17 “Open the east window,” he said, and he opened it. “Shoot!” Elisha said, and he shot. “The Lord ’s arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over Aram!” Elisha declared. “You will completely destroy the Arameans at Aphek.” 18 Then he said, “Take the arrows,” and the king took them. Elisha told him, “Strike the ground.” He struck it three times and stopped. 19 The man of God was angry with him and said, “You should have struck the ground five or six times; then you would have defeated Aram and completely destroyed it. But now you will defeat it only three times.”.

What Enemies Need Defeating?

Acknowledge Your Need Will you be vulnerable with God? 14 Now Elisha was suffering from the illness from which he died. Jehoash king of Israel went down to see him and wept over him. “My father! My father!” he cried. “The chariots and horsemen of Israel!”

Tools for Victory Will you get your weapon out? 15 Elisha said, “Get a bow and some arrows,” and he did so. 16 “Take the bow in your hands,” he said to the king of Israel. When he had taken it, Elisha put his hands on the king’s hands.

Tools for Victory Will you get your weapon out? Ephesians 6:11-12 (NIV) Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Do You Want to Defeat Your Enemies? Will you open the window? 17 “Open the east window,” he said, and he opened it. “Shoot!”

Do You Want to Defeat Your Enemies? The many reasons you might want to leave the window shut: 1. You don’t think God can defeat the foe 2. You like some part or all of how the enemy is conquering you 3. You a secretly on the enemies side 4. You are afraid of actually winning 5. You just feel to weak to fight

Shooting at the Enemy God will fight that battle for you. Elisha said, and he shot.“The Lord ’s arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over Aram!” Elisha declared. “You will completely destroy the Arameans at Aphek.”

Shooting at the Enemy What is that enemy? Satan’s armies of: AngerArrogance FearFretting AddictionLaziness DepressionSelf-Righteousness HurtHate LustLying GreedGambling

Powerful Spiritual Weapons The weapons lack nothing 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (NIV) For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

How urgent are you for defeating your enemies? Get Out the Weapons and Strike the Ground! Then he said, “Take the arrows,” and the king took them. Elisha told him, “Strike the ground.” He struck it three times and stopped. The man of God was angry with him and said, “You should have struck the ground five or six times; then you would have defeated Aram and completely destroyed it. But now you will defeat it only three times.”

We Often Stop! We often just stop opening our Bible. We want the enemy defeated, but we stop praying. We want quick fixes. We sometimes can’t decide if we want the enemy defeated. We look at some good that comes out of a sin or refuse to see the destruction that comes upon us. We strike the ground a few times. With weak faith in God, we stop striking!

Strike the Ground! Isaiah 54:16-17 (NIV) “See, it is I who created the blacksmith who fans the coals into flame and forges a weapon fit for its work. And it is I who have created the destroyer to work havoc; no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord.

Never Stop Striking! In already won victory with Christ, don’t give up! Strike the Ground!!!!
