5 Life on the Mission *Indians of the Mission First called Acjachemen Peaceful people, not a 'war' tribe Hunters and gatherers Arrival of the Spanish Missionaries and soldiers (Padres)- life changed and now called Juanenos after San Juan Capistrano.

6 Function Padres purpose was to: –Spread religion –Improve living conditions of Indians’ life Together they: –Produced crops –Raised livestock –Manufactured items

7 Fun Facts This mission was abandoned for a while and bought back for $710 Great Stone Church was destroyed in an earthquake Tourist attraction Famous for swallows
