2  Culture – The totality of intellectual, artistic, social, and religious expressions that define a society or a group in comparison with another.  Claim for Rights- To ask for something considered a right.  Nation – A group of individuals with the same origins, territory, and language.

3  Agreement- an arrangement that is accepted by all groups and states.  Band - An Amerindian community recognized by the government and usually set up on a reserve.  Reserve – Lands the government has set aside for the use and benefit of Amerindians.

4  Nordicity – Term that refers to northern regions and all the issues that relate to cold, snow, and isolation.  Ancestral rights – Rights held by the descendants of Canada’s first inhabitants ( fishing, hunting, trapping, etc.)  Anthropologist- Specialist who studies the development of human beings.

5  Kayak – a boat, invented by Native people who lived in nordicity. It was an adaptation which allowed them to thread their way through the ice.

Today, the majority of them lives in villages with basic infrastructures and social services.  12. in 17 th century, European missionaries induced Natives to replace their beliefs with Cristianity.  13. Most of Natives are working in primary sector ( forestry, hunting, etc.). Therefore, salaries generally are very low.
