3 tanto,-a,-os,-as + noun + como as much/as many + ____+ as Hay tanto pollo como pescado en la paella. There is as much chicken as fish in the paella. 2. Equality with noun

4 tan + adj./adv. + como as + ____ + as Este tomate no es tan maduro como ese. This tomato is not as ripe as that one. 3. Equality with adj. and adv.

5 verb + tanto como _____+ as much as Pedro cocina tanto como Pilar. Pedro cooks as much as Pilar. 4. Equality with verbs ( actions )

6 verb + más que/menos que _____+ more than/less than Yo cocino más que ella. I cook more than she. 5. Inequality with verbs

7 definite article (+ noun) + más /menos + adjective the most/least +____ + _____ (adj.) (noun) El ajo es el ingrediente más importante. Garlic is the most important ingredient. 6. Remember in Spanish, nouns precede adjectives!

10 Adjectives and Adverbs with Irregular Comparative Forms good – better - best bueno – mejor – el mejor Esos aguacates son buenos pero aquellos aguacates son mejores y estos aguacates son los mejores de todos. Those avocados are good but those avocados are better and these avocados are the best of all.

11 bad – worse- the worst malo – peor – el peor Esos tomatoes son malos pero aquellos tomates son peores y estos tomates son los peores de todos. Those tomatoes are bad but those tomatoes are worse and these tomatoes are the worst of all.

12 young – younger - youngest joven – menor – el menor Yo soy joven. Anita es menor que yo y Teresa es la menor de todos. I am young. Anita is younger than I and Teresa is the youngest of all.

13 old – older - oldest viejo – mayor - el mayor Paco es viejo. Samuel es mayor que Paco y Luis es el mayor de todos. Paco is old. Samuel is older than Paco and Luis is the oldest of all.

14 Menor and mayor are also used when referring to quantity. Hay un menor/mayor número de muchachos que muchachas. There is a fewer/greater number of boys than girls
