1 Muad Alrefai 8-A 3/12/15

2  Neutral- To stay alone, not favoring one side.  Zeppelin- A long, thin, motor powered airship.  Gunman- A man who uses a gun to commit a crime.  Howitzer- A field gun.  Cannon- A large, heavy gun.  Tank- a tracked armored fighting vehicle.

3  World War One began on July 28, 1914.  It was a very big war that lasted for many years. To be exact, it lasted 5 years. (Turner)

4  The Royal Prince of Austria-Hungary, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and his wife, Sophia, were assassinated by a gunman.  The gunman's name was, Gavrilo Princip.  Gavrilo Princip was the man who started World War One. (Butcher)

5  Both Russia and France joined the rest of their allies and fought against the Central Powers Both Russia and France mainly fought with Germany a lot because they were the strongest of the Central Powers. (Turner)

9 ^Rifles, Machine Guns, Gases, Zeppelins, Tanks, Planes, Cannons, and Torpedoes were used in World War One. The British used the Rifle the most. ^The German army were the first to use Chlorine gas at the (Zarak) Battle of Ypres in 1915. ^ Mustard gas were the deadliest weapon used in WW1. ^The Germans were also the first to use Zeppelins to drop bombs in the war. 10  Tanks were used at the Battle of The Somme for the first time. It could only go 3mph and could not cross trenches.  Germans used torpedoes to stop supplies from America to Britain.  Planes were used to deliver bombs and for spying. Then they were later used fighting in the war. ( Citizen Soldier)

11  Some of the conflicts of the war, were when Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. Later after that conflict, more countries joined the war and joined its side in the war.  Germany Attacked Lusitania killing over 1,000 people. The U.S. were outraged that Germany destroyed an unarmored country. Germany stopped submarine warfare, so the U.S. doesn’t join the war. (Citizen Soldier)

12  The countries that fought against each other were divided in Central Powers and Allied Powers. The Allied Powers were France, Britain, U.S., Russia, and in 1915 Italy.  The Central Powers were Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, and Ottoman Empire. ( Citizen Soldier)

14  The final battle of World War 1 was The Battle of Vittorio Veneto. It was the last major battle of WW1.  World War One ended on November 11,1918. It was officially ended in 1919 when the Treaty of Versailles was signed. (Cliffnotes)

15  The Treat of Versailles was one of the peace treaties that ended WW1. It officially ended WW1 on June 28, 1919, exactly 5 years after the death of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. It was a very important Treaty. (Cliffnotes)  (Utah)
