2 NSF Graduate Research Fellowship (NSF GRFP) www.nsfgrfp.org Eligibility: U.S. citizen or Perm Resident; graduating senior; 1st or 2nd year graduate student; eligible field; pursuing research degree (master’s or Ph.D.) Award: $10,500 tuition payment; $30,000 living stipend; TeraGrid supercomputer access; 3 years of support Application: online application (FastLane), personal statement, research proposal, previous research statement, 3 references, transcript(s), GRE scores (recommended) Selection criteria: Intellectual merit & broader impacts Deadline: November 15-22, 2010 (varies by field)

3 National Defense Science & Engineering Graduate Fellowship (NDSEG) http://ndseg.asee.org/ Eligibility: U.S. citizens (perm. res. NOT eligible); seniors, 1st or 2nd year grad students; research-based master’s or Ph.D.; eligible field Award: Full tuition, $30,500+ stipend; $1,000 medical coverage; 3 years Application: research experience, leadership experience, teamwork experience, community service; summary of goals statement, 3 references, GRE scores (general test required); official transcripts Selection criteria: academic ability in fields of interest to the DoD (NO required service with DoD) Deadline: December 17, 2010

4 NASA Aeronautics Scholarship (Graduate) http://nasa.asee.org/ Eligibility: U.S. citizen (perm res. NOT eligible); seniors, or grad students with at least 2 years left to fund;master’s or Ph.D., supported field Award: $11,000 tuition; $35,000 stipend; two $10,000 summer internships at a NASA Research Center (optional); 2 years (with 3rd year option) Application: online application; CV, research proposal (f ive page proposal on a topic of interest to ARMD), 3 references; transcript(s); GRE scoresARMD Selection Criteria: academic strength in relevant field Deadline: January 17, 2011

5 SMART Scholarship Science, Mathematics & Research for Transformation http://smart.asee.org/ Eligibility: U.S. Citizen (perm. res. NOT eligible); minimum 3.0 GPA; any degree in eligible research field; currently enrolled or awaiting admission for fall 2011 Award: Full tuition; stipend between $25,000-$41,000; summer internships; $1,200 medical insurance reimbursement; $1,000 book allowance; mentoring & postgrad job placement Application: online application; summary of goals statement; research explanation; 2 references; GRE scores (general test required) Service agreement: Must agree to employment (for length of duration of scholarship) at a DoD sponsoring facility Deadline: December 1, 2010
