INTERNATIONAL Market Status  TVS diodes appeared in the early 80’s as the first practical semiconductor solution to surge protection.  In late 80’s and early 90’s, the SIDAC technology of thyristor products has been identified as a candidate for the primary surge protection device that telephone industry searched for.  SIDAC thyristor has found a new market needs in mid 90’s because of fast growth in Internet, multimedia, computer, auto industry and consumer electronics with surge sensitive circuitry.  Currently there are more governing agencies of health, safety, consumer and others are mandating the requirement of surge protection on all electronic equipment under Transient Immunity Standards.
