1 SCCD Year 4 Analysis All 32 reports received on time at end of fy Carbon Trust, Adaptation Scotland, SSN analysis CAG Consultants engaged to undertake SSN analysis Continuous improvement linked to SCCD plus support available from SSN, CT and AS Outputs: * Published base-report with detailed analysis * Published report for senior management and decision-makers * Improved reporting, support, policy and practice

2 Goals To contribute to making Scotland more sustainable. To make a contribution to the Scottish Government’s National Purpose and Outcomes. In particular, to contribution to the Scottish Government’s ‘Greener’ Strategic Objectives and the National Outcome: ‘reducing the local and global environmental impacts of our consumption and production’ To improve local government and public sector policy and practice on sustainable development. Purpose We will focus our activities on climate change and sustainable procurement, including: Climate Change Mitigation – contributing to achieving the Climate Change (Scotland) Act 2009 emissions reduction targets and supporting local action linked to the Report on Proposals and Policies Climate Change Adaptation – contributing to the Scottish Climate Change Adaptation Strategy (due in 2013), working with Adaptation Scotland to support public sector adaptation action Sustainable Procurement – supporting improved sustainable procurement policy and practice, within the context of the Scottish Sustainable Procurement Action Plan and the forthcoming Sustainable Procurement Bill, plus progressing work on sustainable procurement’s role in addressing climate change

3 Outcomes In line with the guidance on the Public Bodies Climate Change Duties, the outcomes of our services will be: - Improved local authority/public sector understanding and capacity to handle climate change and sustainable procurement - Improved local authority/public sector assessment of climate change and sustainable procurement impact and influence, linked to improved decision making - Improved local authority/public sector action to deliver lower carbon and well- adapting localities and public sector services, including improved procurement practices - Improved local authority/public sector reporting of progress, including support and development on the SCCD, the Public Bodies Climate Change Duties, and sustainable procurement reporting frameworks

4 Investment Areas i.Strategic leadership and development ii. Knowledge and expertise on the SSN programme priorities. iii. Communications and knowledge exchange services. iv. Events and training programme designed to meet the needs of beneficiary groups, target audiences and network members. v. Providing improved membership support services and developing new support projects, so that more public sector officials can participate in, and benefit from, the SSN and our wider public sector sustainability initiatives. vi. Improved information handling and administration to provide a solid organisational base to underpin and inform more effective and efficient services.
