9 Dementia MOOC http://www.utas.edu.au/wicking/wca/mooc The University of Tasmania's Massive Open Online Course (MOOC),University of Tasmania's Understanding Dementia, is a 9-week online course that builds upon the latest in international research on dementia. It's free and anyone can register. The next offering will be held in 2015 Can be used as a basis for more individualised programme (Anne)

14 NZ Formulary The NZF is an independent resource providing healthcare professionals with clinically validated medicines information and guidance on best practice, enabling healthcare professionals to select safe and effective medicines for individual patients. http://nzformulary.org/

15 NZQA - Level 4 Unit Standards The limited credit programme; developed for residential care staff US 23920, US 23921, US 23922, US 23933 These four existing dementia unit standards are due for revision as part of the Health and Wellbeing (Advanced Health Support) Level 4 qualification – this phase is due to commence in the next month or so.

16 NZQA – Level 3 Unit Standards Developed for community based care staff. US 26974 Describe interaction, supports, and reporting for people with dementia in an aged care, health, or disability context (Level 3, 8 credits) A new level 3, 8 credit unit standard has been created called Provide person-centred care when supporting a person living with early-stage dementia. It is anticipated that this will approved and on the framework within the next month or so. These two units will form part of the Health and Wellbeing Level 3 qualification and the new Unit Standard can also be a standalone training option

17 Open Minds, Open Doors A training option for community based support workers based on the new unit standard and the Walking In Anothers Shoes training. This has been offered to homebased care providers and will commence once the US has been approved by NZQA. Keep an eye on Careerforce website for updates http://www.careerforce.org.nz/
