2 Low Input Viticulture & Enology, Inc (LIVE, Inc.) is a grower-based non-profit that recognizes and honors vineyards and wineries for sustainable agricultural practices. The LIVE certification process is modeled after international standards that are highly regarded by winemakers and consumers around the world.

3 These standards not only provide assurance of fruit quality, but guarantee sustainable vineyard management. LIVE certification provides growers with a simple but comprehensive list of preferred growing practices and prohibitions. In addition, the program requires that they institute a number of ecological options and cultural controls.

4 LIVE Program Goals The 3 E’s of Agricultural Sustainability E nvironmental Health E conomic Profitability Socially E quitable To Certify Vineyard Properties That Use Integrated Production (IP) Approach To See the Vineyard as a Whole System To Create and Maintain a High Level of Fruit Production To Reduce Synthetic Chemical Use and Off-Farm Inputs To Encourage Responsible Stewardship of the Land To Retain International Certifications Sustainable Winery Certifications to begin in 2008

5 2008 Program Statistics and Awards: First internationally certified vineyard certification organization in the U.S., founded in 1997. Grower based – 8 Board members are growers, 1 is a winemaker 182 Member Vineyards 135 Certified 47 Pending Certification 17,016 farm acres enrolled (8353 certified, 7987 pending) 7444 vine acres enrolled 175 certified wines EPA awards in 2001 & 2002 for pesticide risk reduction 2007 Oregon Governors Grant

Year 2 Pay Dues and Inspection Fees Continued LIVE Training Corrective Action (if needed) Continual Improvement Submit Records Fall Inspection LIVE Certification! Future Inspections (randomly once every three years thereafter)
