You can then approach those principals with the materials we will send you. As well, you can solicit sales anywhere within that area....adults, Scouts, churches, seniors etc. Design a territory and send us the boundaries (You would plot out a region of about 100 elementary schools near you, if there are that many you can get to.) You can then approach those principals with the materials we will send you. As well, you can solicit sales anywhere within that area....adults, Scouts, churches, seniors etc. UK will send you the marketing materials and templates that you can personalize and flyers for promotion Find a qualified teacher in the area and recommend him/her to UK UK will hire the teacher (unless you are teaching, in which case UK will send you the Teacher Agreement also) UK will send the teacher the curriculum and work online through a set of teacher training materials and personal contact. You approach the schools and potential clients You let us know specific details when a principal says yes to running a class, such as dates, location, class time etc.

You/the teacher do a presentation about the uke at an assembly The school sends the flyers home that day We set up the registration on our website Parents sign up We send you the class list, ukes and songbooks with each student's name on the uke in the colour of their choice. On the specified day, about 7-10 days or so after registration opens, the first class is held

The teacher gives out books and ukes and starts the course. The course can be 8-12 weeks long, determined by the CHORD- inator and the principal. We have a max of 20 per class and it's not unusual to have more than one class first term. The CHORD-inator would have to find out if we need a permit for a lunch program or if we could use a classroom without one. The cost to the parents is usually $139 CDN for an 8 week course or $159 CDN for 10 weeks, but, when necessary, we discuss the socio-economic situation in the territory and vary it accordingly. The price covers the lessons, the ukulele in the child’s colour choice, and a 46 page songbook. We solicit students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8.

FAQs for Sales Why the Ukulele? The ukulele is having a huge world-wide resurgence in popularity and has taken over the recorder as the instrument of choice in elementary schools. Manufacturers can’t keep up with demand and stores can’t keep them on their shelves. It’s easy to learn, fun, portable and inexpensive…all factors that are making it a huge success in schools, community centers, camps, etc.

Do I need to be a musician or teacher to be a CHORD-inator? Not at all! Many of our CHORD-inators have no music or teaching background whatsoever. However, we are looking for people-oriented individuals who are personable when approaching principals, and are looking to involve themselves in a business that benefits children and their community. Is my territory protected? Yes. You own the exclusive rights to operate in your territory. No other CHORD-inator is permitted to operate within your area. Your CHORD-inator Agreement will make this territory clear.

Do I teach the classes myself? –You may do so if you have the proper teaching credentials and experience Is Ukulele Kids a seasonal business? Is Ukulele Kids a seasonal business? Ukulele Kids, Ukulele Li’l Kids, and Ukulele Big Kids can be a full-time, year-round business. The abundance of lunch and after school programs, in-school workshops, birthday parties, special events, summer camps, businesses, community centers, churches, etc. ensure CHORD-inators enough work to keep them busy all year long. It is all about how much you want to get out and find clients.

How to join our team! To become a Ukulele Kids Sales CHORD-inator, send your resume and covering letter to ken@ukulelekids.ca outlining your interest and suitability for this position.
