5 SC.3/WP.3 39th Session, Geneva, 15-17 June 2011 5 Main changes 1 Chapter 1. – General Provisions −Application only for motorized vessels −Some more definitions added −Obligation to carry certificates −Types of the certificates Chapter 1. – General Provisions; Types of Certificates −Type A – valid for all vessels except for big convoys and passenger vessels −Type B – valid for vessels between 20m and 35m length −Type C – valid for all vessels and convoys (no exam)

6 SC.3/WP.3 39th Session, Geneva, 15-17 June 2011 6 Main changes 2 Chapter 1. – General Provisions; Types of Certificates −Variant 1- waterways of the maritime character treated as the special sectors; no maritime navigation in the exam programme + navigation on maritime parts will be obligatory - no clear criteria for maritime sector (mixed traffic, dimensions of the waterway.......) −Variant 2 - maritime navigation obligatory in the exam programme + broader knowledge for the boatmasters; simple administration and control - some boatmasters will never navigate on the maritime parts of the waterway

7 SC.3/WP.3 39th Session, Geneva, 15-17 June 2011 7 Main changes 3 Chapter 1. – General Provisions; Types of Certificates −Variant 3- Introduction of the subtypes for maritime part (A and A-mar) + candidates have choice for which part of exam they want to apply - possibility to acquire the license for maritime parts without navigation on such parts

8 SC.3/WP.3 39th Session, Geneva, 15-17 June 2011 8 Main changes 4 Chapter 2. – Minimum requirements for the issuance of the boatmaster certificate −Obligatory navigation as qualified member of the crew −Introduction of the list of obligatory knowledge −More specific regulation for the examination committees −New regulation on physical fitness (50 years and more) Chapter 3. – Minimum requirements for the issuance of the radar certificate −New chapter for the radar certificates Chapter 4. – Mutual Recognition −Recognition without special agreements
