2 Jesus multiplied the loaves of bread. A boy offered Jesus five loaves and two fishes to be given as food for the crowd. Jesus blessed them and gave them to the Apostles for them to distribute. 3 Jesus’ miracles show His power After the miracles, the disciples are able to understand that He who has the power to multiply bread, heal incurable illnesses or walk on water also has the power to convert bread and wine into His Body and His Blood. 4 After the multiplication of the loaves of bread, Jesus promised the Eucharist. Jesus explained that God fed the Jews in the desert sending them mannah. 5 Jesus promised the Eucharist Among other things He said: The bread that I shall give for the life of the world is my flesh. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood shall have eternal life. 6 Jesus spoke about the Real Presence Jesus’ words cannot be understood symbolically: those who heard them thought that this could not be true. They said: This is a hard saying…. 7 Jesus spoke about His Real Presence, not about symbolisms. This is why when the Jews got scandalized, He did not say: You have misunderstood me. Rather He repeated what He had said. 8 Do you also wish to go away? Jesus preferred that they abandon Him than changing what He had told them. Peter and the other apostles fully trusted Jesus, although they could not understand it.
