4 126 countries regularly upload their national search data on stolen motor vehicles to
ASF – SMV (Automated Search Facility - Stolen Motor Vehicles) Current statistics: close to 7,3 million stolen vehicles stored over 77 million searches by 155 countries in 2012 (2011: about 40 million by 154 countries) almost recorded hits in 2012 (2011: about )

on vehicle crime for worldwide use  Providing and coordinating training activities  Compiling and maintaining training material and related information on secure IP website (I 24/7)

8 Agenda Regional training by international expert team, including:
 Three days of lessons in Identification of vehicles Identification of international documents Investigation techniques International cooperation  Two days of operation as practical excercise

 support during the operation (e.g. advisor, observer)  assessment and analysis of the operation  coordination of follow-up measures

focusing on heavy goods transport

12 Task Force on Stolen Motor Vehicles (ITFSMV)

13 The ITFSMV was set up in 2009 after positive feedback to INTERPOL‘s
operational support of vehicle operations Objectives:  Offering operational support for national law enforcement agencies (on request)  Lending expertise and tools (e.g. access to different national databases)  Establishing a network of vehicle experts

14 Members ITFSMV includes law enforcement officials as well as
Jörn Seifert Members ITFSMV includes law enforcement officials as well as members from the private sector from the following countries: Austria France Poland Belgium Germany Spain Finland Italy Sweden Switzerland

15 Currently, ITFSMV supports up to three operations per year
Outcomes  10 operations supported (Balkans, Cyprus, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Romania, Spain)  Over vehicles checked  Over 110 stolen vehicles identified and seized Around 50 suspects arrested (not exclusively in relation to vehicle crimes) Currently, ITFSMV supports up to three operations per year
