You will start by creating a new application and submitting it. The application will progress through various stages (statuses) and eventually be completed. Review and respond to an offer. Amend a Processing (Submitted) application that has well(s) drilling over expiry and whose agreement has expired. View a final document.

5 Page 5 of 66 Create and Submit a Validation Application You must have Creator role to create (or amend) an application and Submitter role to submit an application.

6 Page 6 of 66 Create Validation Application – Administration Information 1. Select Company Name, optionally Applicant File Number, and Comment 2. Select Contact information and edit if required When an application is created, its status is “Work in Progress.” Contact Information can be updated at anytime.

7 Page 7 of 66 Create Validation Application – Administration Information – Add Technical Contact 3. Click on Add Technical Contact 4. Enter Technical Contact 5. Click Save Use the Save button after completing information on each tab.

8 Page 8 of 66 If a non-required field is missing, the screen may display a warning message. Nevertheless, you would still be able to save the application data. Warning Message

9 Page 9 of 66 If a required field is missing or an application validation fails, the screen will display an error message. Correct the application accordingly and try saving again. Error Message

Select extension date If requesting an extension under 8(1)(h) or 26, select one of the options in the Section dropdown list and provide the extension date. If requesting an 8(1)(g), provide the extension date. [8(1)(g) extends the period of time you can submit your application, and it must be requested with either 8(1)(h), 26, or 11 (by completing the Wells tab).]

16 Page 16 of 66 Create Validation Application – Wells Tab – Add Well 1. Click on Wells tab 2. Select well type 3. Enter Well ID 4. Click Add You can add multiple validating or earning wells.

Optionally enter Sections Earned (for Validating Well) After a well is added, the Licence No. is automatically populated. For details on Drilling Over Expiry refer to the corresponding section later in this training course.

24 Page 24 of 66 A Multi-leg Well must have a corresponding Validating Well or Earning Well, and its Well Licence Number must match that of the Validating Well or Earning Well entered. Create Validation Application – Wells Tab – Add Multi-leg Well (continued) 4. Click on checkbox if applicable 5. Select zone 6. Select options Unless the validating or earning well has Drilling Over Expiry selected, the multi-leg well will not have the Drilling Over Expiry option.

25 Page 25 of 66 Create Validation Application – Data Tab – Remove Well If needed, use this button to remove the added well.

26 Page 26 of 66 Create Validation Application – Data Tab – Add Company 1. Click Data tab 2. Click Add Company 4. Click Select 3. Choose and enter search parameters and click Find This tab is required only if the data is going to be submitted by another company. An authorization request is also required (see Request Authorization for Data in PNG Continuation: Authorization online training course).

28 Page 28 of 66 Verify Validation Application After the application has been verified by the internal system, load it again from your Work In Progress list, and its status should return to “Work in Progress.” At this stage, you may continue to work on your application or submit it. This process verifies all information in your application using internal validations to ensure correctness of all data. Any errors or warnings will be displayed on the screen. You may use the Verify button after completing information on each tab. Click Verify Status becomes Verifying.

29 Page 29 of 66 Submit Validation Application You must have Submitter role to submit an application. When your application is ready to submit, you should first click Verify, then you have within 5 minutes from verifying to submit the application. If any information has changed, you will be required to verify the application again. 1. Click Submit 2. Click OK 3. Click OK

30 Page 30 of 66 Submit Validation Application (continued) Your application has been received by Alberta Energy when its status becomes Processing (Submitted) and it will remain as this status until your application has been reviewed. Submission Date is now displayed. At this stage, the application is no longer editable (except Contact Information).

31 Page 31 of 66 View Licence Validation Document Licence Validation Document is a PDF file that shows all the information for your application. Please do not mail a printed application to Alberta Energy. You can view the Licence Validation Document at any time after the application has been saved. To view the document click on this link.

34 Page 34 of 66 Work In Progress You can use the Work In Progress screen to retrieve all active applications associated with your company. Please note that certain applications may have been archived and will no longer be in your Work in Progress list.

The table on the right shows the mapping between the parameter fields and each corresponding result column. 38 Page 38 of 66 Cancel or Withdraw an Application You can Cancel an application in Work in Progress status. Withdraw an already submitted application prior to expiry. Please note that withdrawing an application will remove it from Alberta Energy’s records. You must have Submitter role to cancel or withdraw an application.

43 Page 43 of 66 Copy Application 1. Click Copy 2. Click OK Copy assists you in creating a new application by copying information from a cancelled or withdrawn application.

44 Page 44 of 66 Offer If an offer is received by ETS, application status becomes Offer. An email will be sent from ETS informing your company that an offer is available for your review and response. The offer can have one or more options for you to choose from. You have before the Offer Expiry Date to respond to the offer. If Offer Expiry Date has passed without your response, the application will be sent back to the internal system, and the status will become “Processing (No Response).”

45 Page 45 of 66 Review Offer Offer can be accessed in this tab. To view the offer letter click on this link. Offer land options Status has become Offer. The date the offer expires. Early Response checkbox for authorizing Alberta Energy to review your Offer Response prior to the Offer Expiry Date.

46 Page 46 of 66 Respond to Offer For each offer option, you can choose one of these responses: Accept Decline Additional Data (before expiry) / Request for Review (after expiry) Customize 1. Choose option

47 Page 47 of 66 Respond to Offer – Add Document Add a supporting document if your choice is Additional Data (before expiry) or Request for Review (after expiry) 1. Select Additional Data (or Request for Review) 2. Browse for document 3. Click Add Document 4. Click checkbox if applicable Add only one document for multiple Additional Data options.

48 Page 48 of 66 Respond to Offer – Customize 1. Select Customize 2 Choose option If “Additional Data” or “Request for Review” is chosen as the response, you must add a supporting document.

49 Page 49 of 66 View Offer Response Document To view the offer response document click on this link. When you have completed your offer response, review it with the Offer Response Document. Offer Response Document is a PDF file that shows your offer response.

51 Page 51 of 66 Respond to Offer – Early Response Checkbox If you submit an offer response with the box unchecked, you will be able to make changes to the offer response before the Offer Expiry Date. Status will become “Offer Response Pending.” Once the Offer Expiry Date has passed, the internal system will receive the offer response and the status becomes “Processing (Offer Response Submitted). If you submit an offer response with the box checked, you will not be able to make further changes to the offer response, as it has already been submitted to the internal system. Once the internal system has received the offer response, status will become “Processing (Offer Response Submitted).” Alberta Energy may finalize the agreement prior to the Offer Expiry Date but not prior to the Agreement Expiry Date.

52 Page 52 of 66 You must have Submitter role to submit an offer response. When the offer response is complete, submit the application back to the internal system. 2. Click OK 3. Click OK Submit Offer Response 1. Select Submit

53 Page 53 of 66 Final If a final document is received by ETS, application status becomes Completed. An email will be sent from ETS informing your company (and the applicant if applicable) that a final document is available for viewing. A final document contains a final letter and an amended appendix if applicable.

55 Page 55 of 66 View Final (as Designated Representative) 1. Select Request Status Search Result 2. Choose your search parameters 3. Click Retrieve To view the final document click on this link.

56 Page 56 of 66 Offer Withdrawn Alberta Energy will contact your company, instead of an email being sent from ETS, if there has been an offer withdrawal. Once the offer has been withdrawn, it is considered completed and you will no longer be able to access it. Application with the offer withdrawn will return to Processing (Submitted) status. “No Application” or Correction Application with the offer withdrawn will become Offer Withdrawn status.

57 Page 57 of 66 Drilling Over Expiry You can only amend a Processing (Submitted) application that has well(s) drilling over expiry and whose agreement has expired. You must have Creator role to amend an application and Submitter role to submit it. You have up to 1 month from rig release date to amend the application. If amendment is not submitted within the required timeframe, your application will be processed as previously submitted.

58 Page 58 of 66 Amend Validation Application – Drilling Over Expiry 1. Click Amend 2. Enter OK

59 Page 59 of 66 Amend Validation Application – Drilling Over Expiry (continued) Status becomes Amendment in Progress. During amendment, the information you can edit is Agreement land selection Number of sections earned, land, zone, and data information for the well(s) drilling over expiry Add a multi-leg well if applicable Once the amendment is completed, click Submit to send the application back to the internal system. Status will become Processing (Amendment Submitted).

60 Page 60 of 66 No Application For your company ETS will create the application, along with the offer or final, as initiated from the internal system. The application will have a request number assigned and its Designated Representative name populated. An email will be sent from ETS informing your company’s site administrator that an application has been created and your action is required. You may review the offer and if it is satisfactory, accept the offer by completing the application and submitting it. Otherwise, decline the offer by not providing response before the Offer Expiry Date.

61 Page 61 of 66 No Application The information you can edit for a “no application” is: Contact information Technical contact Agreement land selection Information and data provided for the existing validation well The well if drilling over expiry The Data tab if applicable Add a multi-leg well if applicable The Offer screen for a “no application” would display similar to the example below: Review the offer letter and then follow similar approach as Create and Submit a Validation Application to complete the “no application” and send it to Alberta Energy.

62 Page 62 of 66 Correction Application At times Alberta Energy may create a correction application on your company’s behalf to send you an offer or final; this occurs if Alberta Energy has already finalized an agreement and now a correction is required. An email will be sent from ETS informing your company that an offer or a final is available for your review. If an offer is sent, it will come to ETS and be available in your Work In Progress list, and you may respond to it like a normal offer. If a final is sent, it will be available for you to retrieve from the Request Status page.
