2. SSU History Saratov State University was founded in 1909 by the decree of the Emperor Nicolay II. Today SSU is one of the leading institutions for science and education. It is the acknowledged University in the country and a multiple winner of Russian, international competitions and grants.

3. Education SSU has developed a unique profile with a special combination of 30 faculties, 6 educational institutes, 2 colleges. This structure provides training curriculum for more than 150 specialties in the fields of secondary, undergraduate and postgraduate education.

4. Students from 22 countries At SSU there are 27 700 students, including international students hailing from 22 countries : the USA, France, Turkey, Iran, Iraq and the New Independent States of the Former Soviet Union are among them.

7. Achievements SSU is widely known for its scientific achievements. The inventions of the University scientists traditionally win prizes at international exhibitions and fairs. For several years now SSU programming team ranks among the best in the world. In 2006 SSU team obtained the title of All Round World Champion in Programming.
