1 ODSA – SPF Grant Ontario Disc Sports Association & Sport Priority Funding Grant

2 Grant Application In March of 2007 ODSA made an application to the Ministry of Health Promotion Sports Branch for a continuation of a 2006 directive. This grant application was for funding of $50,000 for an outreach program targeted to teach disc sports to grade 7 to 10 students over a 10 week period throughout the province of Ontario

3 PROGRAM OVERVIEW Teaching Disc Golf/Ultimate 15 minute video highlighting history, physics, games & throwing and catching skills 30 minutes hands on throwing and catching 30 minutes of game play Materials Left Behind Handouts for all students 12 Ultimate Discs or 35 Golf Discs Portable Pole Hole (DG) Specific Grade Curriculum Ultimate DVD/DG Video Rulebook

5 Tour Logistics Seek and Hire qualified screened instructors Plan tour through 3 regions in Ontario Break tour into 3 parts Fall 2007 Northern 3 weeks – 25 schools Spring 2008 South and East 7 weeks – 75 schools Spring 2008 GTA & GOA 5 weeks – 100 schools (2 concurrent programs 50 schools each) Produce program materials Plan tour with schools and partners Book Hotels – Rent Vans – Buy Apparel

6 School Logistics Target schools with grades 7 & 8 – 9 & 10 Teach 1 Elementary & 1 Secondary School per day (minimum of 2 classes each school averaging 35 students per class) Able to reach 10 schools per week teaching 700 students (5 Elementary – 5 Secondary) which equals 7000 students over 10 weeks Run 3 programs – 2 concurrent to achieve goal below Over the course of 10 weeks able to reach 200 schools and 14000 students

7 The Plan ODSA hires instructors for Fall 2007 – Northern Tour completes 3 weeks and teaches 25 schools reaching 1500 students ODSA hires instructors for Spring 2008 South & Eastern Tour to teach over 7 weeks reaching 75 schools and 5250 students ODSA works with TUC and OCUA on delivery of 2 concurrent programs reaching 100 schools and 7000 students over a 5 week period in Spring 2008

8 TUC & OCUA and the RADD Tour Objective is to have both groups work the program as laid out This gives both TUC and OCUA the opportunity to co- brand and promote their own leagues first and foremost Each organization would be required to teach 50 schools each broken down to 25 elementary & 25 secondary schools each reaching approx 3500 students over the course of a 5 week period from April 28 th to May 30 th, 2008 – Disc Golf must be taught to at least 10 schools each

9 OCUA & ODSA Contract ODSA wishes to enter into a contract with OCUA to facilitate hiring 2 tour instructors, and to coordinate book and deliver the Tour & School Logistics over a 5 week period April 28 th to May 30 th 2008. ODSA will provide a rental vehicle with insurance and pay for gas. ODSA will also supply all materials, discs, teaching aids and instructor apparel ODSA will pay a lump sum of $6425 up front to fulfill this contract

10 Financial Breakdown Overview of Funds Instructors receive $3212.50 x 2 = $6425.00 Vehicle Rentals & Gas = $1368.75 Outreach School Kits $50 x 50 = $2500.00 Student Handouts $.20 x 3500 = $ 700.00 Instructors Apparel = $ 400.00 (Actual $535.00 x 2 = $1070 apparel) Hard Costs = $11393.75
