5. T HE C LASS R ULE : R ESPECT There is one central rule always in effect here: Let all your actions demonstrate respect… …for the teacher. …for your fellow scholars. …for yourself. What does that mean?

6. R ESPECT Groups of two or three. Designate one person to speak for the group, and one (or two) to write. In 5 minutes, answer this question in as many ways as possible: What does “respect” mean, and how can we demonstrate respect here? For each question, choose the three answers that seem most important to you as a group. Be ready to share your results.

7. R ULES Consider the second question, in particular: How can we demonstrate respect here? A rule says what we do in class Must be positive – state what we do want, not don’t Must be in effect at all times. Each group: produce two rules from your ideas.
