1 Vocab: Week 1 Copy down each word & definition: 1.Acolyte - A person who assists in some religious services by carrying out minor duties; one who attends or assists, a follower. 2.Bibulous - Given to the consumption of alcoholic drinks; highly absorbent. 3.Coalesce - To grow together; to unite to form a whole. 4.Covert - Not openly acknowledged; secret.

2 5. Declaim - To recite something in the style of a public speech; to speak in a loud, theatricalway. 6. Delineate - To describe vividly and in detail. 7. Demagogue - A leader who seeks power by appealing to people’s emotions and prejudices and by making false claims and promises. 8. Encomium - An expression of warm and enthusiastic praise; a tribute. 9. Obdurate - Resistant to persuasion; inflexible; Persistent in wrongdoing. 10. Prescience - Foresight; knowledge beforehand of events.
