6 KITES Kites are a key image in the book. It represents Hassan and Amir’s strong friendship, despite the racial barriers. The kite was also present when Hassan was assaulted. They are also present when he gets the call from Rahim. They are also present at the very end when Amir has redeemed himself. So the kites are symbolic of redemption and goodness as well.
