The Mystery of God: Colossians 2:1-33 “Encouraged hearts” denotes the strengthening of the whole inner person Paul prays for loving unity which is something always under attack Ephesians 4:16 uses the same term translated “knit together” Colossians 2:2a (NASB) that their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love,...

The Mystery of God: Colossians 2:1-34 Colossians 1:27 also linked “mystery” and Christ Both passages also reference “riches” “Assured understanding” is publicly revealed in the gospel and is not secret The Colossians were surrounded by mystery religions Colossians 2:2b (HCSB) so that they may have all the riches of assured understanding and have the knowledge of God’s mystery—Christ.

The Mystery of God: Colossians 2:1-38 Spiritual revelators cannot discover what is not revealed Only the Bible is God’s Word and it means what it says Isaiah 48:16 Deuteronomy 29:29 (NASB) The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of this law.

The Mystery of God: Colossians 2:1-39 2Timothy 3:16, 17 (NASB) All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. Christ alone and Scripture alone are essential truths False teachers always attack the sufficiency of Christ

The Mystery of God: Colossians 2:1-310 Ephesians 3:8-10a (NASB) To me, the very least of all saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ, and to bring to light what is the administration of the mystery which for ages has been hidden in God who created all things; so that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known...
