5. EUROPEAN TOPIC CENTRE ON AIR AND CLIMATE CHANGE w wEEA/ETC should continue to provide support through the current software tools (CollectER, ReportER, EstimatER and COPERT III) in co- operation with the European Commission (DG Environment) and UNECE/EMEP/TFEIP.

6. EUROPEAN TOPIC CENTRE ON AIR AND CLIMATE CHANGE Validation and verification  EEA/ETC should ensure the quality of the EU LRTAP (and FCCC) Inventories. The responsibility for the quality of the national inventories lies with the country. Both EEA/ETC and member countries should have internal validation procedures in place to ensure quality of their inventories.

7. EUROPEAN TOPIC CENTRE ON AIR AND CLIMATE CHANGE wEEA/ETC should develop transparent methods on data gap filling for the EU LRTAP inventory in consultation and co-operation with member countries using FCCC Guidelines.

8. EUROPEAN TOPIC CENTRE ON AIR AND CLIMATE CHANGE  EIONET is recommending that the TFEIP considers, as high priority, review and verification of national emission inventories. Topics to be included could be initial checks, synthesis and assessment reports, and possibly, more detailed reviews. And, in addition, inverse modelling (by MSC-W) and checking of base year data for IAM (by CIAM).

9. EUROPEAN TOPIC CENTRE ON AIR AND CLIMATE CHANGE Air emissions indicators for policy support w wThe EEA/ETC should produce policy- relevant air emission indicator-based reports on progress of environmental policies at European and national levels towards emission targets and indicate the main policy successes and failures (CAFE, GHG MM and SD strategy).
