1. Monuments of Gorj district

2.  The Gorj district is situated in south-west of Romania, along the “Jiu” river, with an surface of 5.602 kilometers. The residence of Gorj district is Tg-jiu. It contains extensive forms of relief and importants characters which had an important role in history.

3.  The tourism of The Gorj district is quite intense due to natural conditions (“Jiul’s narrow path”, ”Oltet’s keys”, ”Polovragi’s cave”, “Closani’s cave”), due to history, important perssonalityes like Tudor Vladimirescu, Ecaterina Teodoroiu, Dinca Schileru, to the objectives and archeological vestiges (Daco-Roman settlements from Suseni, Barsesti, Boroseni, Bumbesti-Jiu), monastery Tismana, Polovragi, Lainici and Hermitage)

10. The memorial house “Constantin Brancusi”  Location:Village Hobita,Gorj county  Here was born the sculptor Constantn Brancusi. The house has 3 rooms and it was built in year 1870 by the sulptor’s father. It was transformed into Memorial House in 1970 and today contains a collection of albums, letters, photographs and documents about the sculptor’s life.

The memorial house “Ecaterina Teodoroiu” The memorial house “Ecaterina Teodoroiu”  Location: boulevard Ecaterina Teodoroiu, no. 270, Tg Jiu, Gorj district  Ecaterina was born in 1894, and she was a great heroine of our country. The house was built in 1884 by her parents. It is a pleasant house that includes 2 rooms and the roof is made of stieve. In 1959 after restoration, the house becomes the memorial “Ecaterina Teodoroiu” but since 1945 the house was inhabited by family members.

Roman cut from Bumbesti-Jiu  Roman cut from Bumbesti-Jiu is one of the most important in this part of Oltenia.He was part of the range of cuts at the foot of the Carpathians (Catunele,Pinoasa,Bumbesti).  And here in the village of Bumbesti Republicans found evidence denarii and anthroponomical,,Bubentis”.

16. Tismana monasteryTismana monastery  location:Gorj district, village Tismana  It’s one of the oldest monasteryes from Romania. The settlement of the place for building the monastery was chosenby Nicodim on the rock of Stirmina.

18. Polovragi monastery  location:Gorj district, village Polovragi  This monastery has the beginnings in the sixteen century, her founders are Radu and Patru. At the half of the seventeen century the monastery it’s made again by her true founder the great seneschal Danciu Paraianu, considerated so far her true founder.

20. Lainici monastery  location:Gorj district, village Sabotin  In the fourteen century, Saint Nicodim of Tismana was sent in Romania to support the orthodoxy and to give a new outline of church.
