3. Italian constitution Our constitution is the fundamental law of the Italian state. The constitution is : -Long -Rigid -Democratic The constitution is : -Long as it contains provisions in many areas of civil life. -Rigid because it can not be changed by an ordinary parliamentary law. -Democratic as it has a special emphasis on the sovereignity of the people, trade unions and political parties

4. Italians people’s life is regulated by the Constitution and its five Constitutional Organs: 1.The constitutional court 2.The judiciary 3.The govern 4.The parliament 5.The president of republic

5. The costitutional court The constitutional court is composed by 15 judges selected between the magistrates. The costitutional court controls that laws act in conformity with constitution. Its decisions are definitive sentences. Besides the court evaluates: - The conflicts between the power of the state and the regions

6. The judiciary The judiaciary exercises the judicial function ;the judicial function is the application of legal rules to specific cases. The State Judicial Council is chaired by the President of the Republic.

7. The govern The govern is composed by the chairman of the board and by ministers, all together compose the council of ministers. The government expresses the politics of the majority. The council of ministers is composed by all ministers and the president. The principal rules are: Executive function Elaboration of the government program. Approval of the decree-law and the legislative-decrees.

8. The parliament The Parliament has a legislative power. It is composed by two chambers:the Chamber of Deputies and the Senates with same duties and powers.The parliament has the task to approve the work of the government(“fiducia”)

9. The Senate and the chamber of deputies The Senate is composed by three hundred fifteen ( 315) senators, plus the so-called "Senators for life" which are appointed by the President of the Republic among those who have carried out specific tasks in the field of science and arts. The Chamber of Deputies is composed by six hundreds thirty ( 630 ) members.

10. The president of the Italian republic The President of the Italian Republic is the head of the Italian State and represents national unity. Elected by the Parliament in joint session, he remains in office for seven years.The president can solve the parlamentary chambers in advance if in the government there are contrast among the parlamentary members.Any Italian citizen who is fifty years old can be elected President. Since two thousand and six ( 2006 ), our president has been Giorgio Napolitano.

11. The region with special laws The national territory is divided into twenty regions, five of which have special status (in Sicily, Sardinia, Trentino, Friuli and the Aosta Valley ) and fifteen ordinary statute. We define special region a region that has particular forms and conditions of autonomy.

12. The regional council The Regional Council exercises the legislative power and can make laws proposals to the parlament.

13. The president of the regional council The president of the council is the main representative. He conducts the council policy and he promulgates laws and issues of regional regulations.

14. The junta The junta has a function on its own, and its activity is coordinated by the president of the region. It has legislative, executive and administrative powers.
