2 DECORATING YOUR SENTENCE - SEMICOLONS Semicolons: Use semicolons to combine two sentences without using a conjunction. Semicolons MUST connect two independent clauses.. Independent Clause Ex: She hopes to earn good grades this semester; her scholarship depends on it. ; Ex: Tony is a careless driver; he has had three minor accidents this year alone!
