2 GOOD DEEDS AND GOOD NEWS

3 Whatever you REALLY believe is true is seen in the way you live your life.

4 How you live your life reveals what you REALLY believe.

5 With these words in mind, what do you really believe?

6 Acts 10:36-38, “You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, telling the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. You know what has happened throughout Judea,

7 beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached-- how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the

8 power of the devil, because God was with him.”

9 1. Good deeds pave the way for the good news to be told.

10 Good news and accompanying good deeds are like the two wings of an airplane.

11 The Bible tells us that Jesus sends His disciples out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

12 Where there are examples of this, the world takes notice.

13 2. Good deeds glorify God

14 Matthew 5:16, “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in Heaven.”

15 3. Good deeds validate the Gospel.

16 Somewhere along the line Christianity was reduced to a philosophy.

17 4. Good deeds create goodwill in the community surrounding the church.

18 As important as good deeds are remember they CANNOT lead a person to a saving faith in Jesus.

19 Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.”

20 That’s why the most effective approach to introducing the world to Jesus is less “Come and See” and more “Go, minister and tell.”

21 Way to share the good news:

22 1. Listen to the other person’s story.

23 2. Ask permission to tell your story.

24 3. Ask permission to tell God’s story: the plan of salvation.

25 4. Leave the rest to Jesus.

26 Our question for the day comes from an unusual source.

27 Question for the day: “Do you want to spend the rest of your life selling sugared water or do you want a chance to change the world?”
