2 Dimensions of Respect Mutual respect: Everyone has value & rights
Accept differences Earn respect by actions and words Respect others—they respect you Mutual respect: 2-way relationship that develops between people or groups after lines of communication are open and trust develops

3 Ways of Showing Respect
“Please” / “Thank you” / “Excuse me” / “Good morning” Holding the door Remove sunglasses before speaking to someone Communicate clearly Listen actively-Do not interrupt Give constructive feedback Deal w/people in a cooperative way Be flexible Create opportunities to teach and learn Share behaviors & feelings Viewing situations as win-win scenarios Use inclusive language (saying “we” instead of “you” or “they”)
