1. November Journals Instead of having a traditional “journal” time, my students do writing as part of our Daily 5 time. Currently, I have stamps and sentence dominoes that the kids can do during writing time and they can also write about things that they are thinking about. (I get a lot of “I love my mom.”) I have even had some students make circle maps in their Daily 5 spirals! These journal starters will be laminated, cut apart and added to our writing area for students to choose from during writing time.
