Gal 6:1-5 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. 2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. 3 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. 4 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. 5 For every man shall bear his own burden. 2

3. 1. Any of God’s children may be tempted and fall 2. It was by God’s grace that a man had been saved and could be restored 3. Many of the Galatians had been “bewitched” 4. Those deceived may be more easily restored than those who had chosen to sin 5. Paul observed important issues: Who? What? How? Why? 3

4. 6 Some burdens are difficult to share 7 Attempts to restore must come from desire as well as from following commands 8 Some had been convinced that mixing the Law with the gospel indicated superior intellect 9 Every Galatian Christian bore responsibility in his treatment of the gospel 4

Gal 6:6-10 Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. 7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. 10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. 5

6. 1. All have responsibility in supporting the gospel 2. The taught have a responsibility to those who have preached 3. We do not know how much the Galatians may have assisted Paul 4. We do not know Paul’s motivation for addressing the financial issue 6

7. 5 Galatians should not think spiritual blessings would continue if they were selfish materially 6 We shall “reap what we sow” 7 We should be liberal in sharing with those who carry God’s word and with those in need 7

8. Gal 6:11-15 Ye see how large a letter I have written unto you with mine own hand. 12 As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ. 13 For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh. 14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. 15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. 8

9. 1. Paul was willing to compare his credentials in exposing false teachers 2. A comparison of motivation could open eyes 3. Personal reputation and popularity were more important to Judiazers that following the Law 4. Paul’s motivation in changing the state of Galatians was as transparent as Judiazer’s motivation 9

10. 5 The indication of a Christian was from within 6 Obedience to God’s commands is the key 7 Paul’s sincerity can be compared to Judaizer’s insincerity 8 A tree is known by it’s fruit 10

11. Gal 6:16-18 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God. 17 From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus. 18 Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen. 11

12. 1. Circumcision was no longer important 2. The “Israel of God” was no longer fleshly Jews 3. Believing Jews and Gentiles were accepted 4. Honest men would be convinced by Paul 5. Paul urged false teachers to trouble him no more 12
