AGE & IDENTITY CRITERIA You are who you say you are At least 15 years old Not older than 31 on June 15, 2012 Unless… you are in removal proceedings, have a final removal order, or have a voluntary departure order or are in immigration detention

AGE CRITERIA If applicant unsure as to whether or not in removal proceedings, with final order, or voluntary departure order… Can submit a Freedom of Information Act request to get information on contacts with Government agencies Can also do an FBI background check

AGE & IDENTITY EVIDENCE Certified copy of your birth certificate Photocopy of your birth certificate (if no certified copy is available) Valid or Expired passport Valid or Expired consular ID card Valid or expired school ID Military ID Photo ID documents issued by DHS

AGE & IDENTITY EVIDENCE If applicant does not have a document to prove identity and age can go to the consulate an apply for: Passport or Consular ID -Give them the handout on the location of different consulates

EDUCATION CRITERIA You are currently in school at: -A public or private elementary school, junior high or middle school, high school -An education, literacy, or career training program (including vocational training) -A GED program

EDUCATION CRITERIA No circumstantial evidence will be accepted for this requirement -In other words need actual school records or transcripts Yes! Can go back to school now and “be in school” by the time submit application. To renew deferred action (if granted) will need to show that graduated or made progress in education -Shouldn’t just register if don’t intend to pursue education Lots of different types of schools count: -Programs designed to lead to placement in postsecondary education, job training, or employment and where you are working toward such placement; -Generally funded by federal or state grants, or administered by providers of demonstrated effectiveness. -ESL classes may count only if you are enrolled in an ESL program as a prerequisite for your placement in postsecondary education, job training, or employment and where you are working toward such placement.

EDUCATION EVIDENCE Diplomas GED certificates Report cards School transcripts Acceptance letters School registration cards Letters from school or program Progress reports showing the name of the school or program, date of enrollment, and current educational or grade level, if relevant. Military documents

EDUCATION EVIDENCE Easiest way to obtain this evidence is to request copy of high school transcript, diploma, or GED certificate -Give handout on how to request transcripts/ diploma -Give handout on how to enroll in GED classes or other educational programs
