According to the ( Heallrht) there are two phases of design in tilt- up and precast concrete construction. These are the in-service design completed by the project design engineer. The in- service design provides for the performance of the concrete panel as part of the complete structure. The second phase is the design for erection which covers handling, transport, erection and bracing of individual concrete elements during the erection process. Design Loads Design loads are construction loads such as: -Manufacturing Loads -Transport Loads -Erection Loads Structural Design & Specification of Concrete The structural design of concrete elements should Be carried out in accordance with the requirements AS 3850 and AS 3600. Fire standards and Structural provisions need to be taken into account as well. The specification of concrete should be accordance with the engineers requirements and follow AS 3600. R e s e a r c h

Concrete panel documentation consists of: -a marking plan: a plan showing the location of all concrete elements -shop drawings: provide all the information and details required to manufacture the concrete elements. -erection documentation: provides information about rigging details. Before construction can begin all documents need to presented to the local council and given approval to construct.

The panels can be stored on site however they have be stored in appropriate way. Precast concrete elements are usually stored horizontally, however wall cladding panels are usually store vertically by using A frames or a racking system. In the diagram below it shows an appropriate way to stack pre-cast panels this was source from the Precast concrete handbook. Precast panels are ordered through a precast factory and are made according to the documentation specifications an shop drawings provided by the structural engineer. These panels are then precast at a factory an delivered to the site usually on the day of installation.

The fixings should be capable of resisting the forces set out in AS 3850. Friction forces should not be assumed to resist any part of this force. Grout tubes, particularly in the edges of thin panels, should be provided with restraining reinforcement on each side of the tube. R e s e a r c h

All steelwork forming part of the structure should be erected in accordance with AS 3828 which sets out recommended safe working provisions and practices supported by training, for those involved in erection of the steelwork including associated trades. 10.2 Inspection prior to and removal of braces Panel braces should not be removed until the concrete panel is incorporated into the structure and the structure is capable of supporting the panel for the applied loads. Prior to the removal of braces, the structure should be inspected to ensure that all structural elements affecting stability are securely fixed to the panels. This inspection should be carried out by the project design engineer and written approval to remove the braces given to the builder. Information provided by the Building Code and the OHS Act of 1984
