3 Ohio Department of Health The 24-Hour Hazmat Emergency Communications Center Backed by the resources of the Chemical Manufacturers Association, CHEMTREC® offers shippers and carriers of hazardous materials a cost-effective way to comply with Federal DOT Regulations, while reducing risk and promoting Responsible Care®. In addition, CHEMTREC also works with emergency responders by helping to determine what chemicals are involved, how to protect others at the scene, as well as how to mitigate the incident. For a fixed annual fee, registrants received an unmatched array of services and benefits, including access to a 24-hour Communications Call Center, chemical product safety specialists, and 2.8 million MSDS'. 4 Ohio Department of Health CHEMTREC (1-800-424-9300) When you call Chemtrec An Emergency Services Specialist asks you for critical information about the incident, conditions at the scene, the product(s), shipper, and carrier. The Specialist accesses database of registrants, contacts, and technical information. You receive technical data on handling the substance(s) involved - Information is relayed from CHEMTREC's database of nearly 2.8 million Materials Safety Data Sheets, providing technical information, physical characteristics, handling, and disposal steps - In the event of injuries/exposures, CHEMTREC can provide medical support to the treating physician through our exclusive Meditec Service
