2. Jessie at one. Born at 50 H St. in Washington D.C., She was the 3 rd of six Brothers and Sisters.

7. Dad grew up in Oklahoma, a country boy thru and thru. Mom had to train him in city ways. She did make 2 trips to his home place near Lawton. The second journey was in 1932 as his wife.

8. The young couple survived the Great Depression, Mom graduating from Teachers College and Dad from Law School. They eventually settled in Arlington Va. To start a family. They also assumed care of J.’s sister Edith’s child Marlean.

9. Marlean and Mother Bunch are seen on the right and Mom, pregnant with our brother Neal, is wearing a stylish maternity dress. Neal sadly lived only 1 day when born.

11. By 1949, Jessie had 3 children; teenaged Marlean, a devilish boy, Billie, and a darling baby girl, Beth.

12. We don’t want to forget Bill had a little to do with making the Family. Jessie was hard to catch with a smile. Beth sits on Jessie’s lap in 1950
