2 Prevent outside interests from adversely affecting professional decision-making, patient care or research objectivity. Prevent outside activities from interfering with UAMS responsibilities. Comply with federal and state laws and regulations.

3 Must be completed within the first two weeks of employment and annually thereafter. Must also be updated within thirty (30) days of a change. https://secure.uams.edu/uamsforms/

4 Following submission, disclosures are reviewed by Chairs, Deans and the Conflict of Interest Committee. If the Committee determines that a staff member has a conflict, the staff member will be contacted and a management plan developed. The management plan will document steps being taken to prevent the outside interest from inappropriately influencing decision-making or impacting UAMS responsibilities. If the conflict cannot be managed, the Committee may request divestment of the interest.

5 Under Arkansas ethics laws, state employees may not participate (directly or indirectly) in any transaction at UAMS: (i) Where the employee or an immediate family member has a Financial Interest; (i) Involving an entity with which the employee or an immediate family member has a Financial Interest; or (i) Involving an entity with which the employee or an immediate family member is negotiating or has an arrangement concerning prospective employment.

6 Under state law, “Financial Interest” includes: (i) Ownership or any relationship where the person has received or is entitled to receive more than $1000 annually, or its equivalent; (ii) Ownership interests of greater than 5%; or (iii) Holding a position at an entity such as an officer director, trustee, partner, employee orthe like, or any position of management.”
