Key Club Meeting OCTOBER 2, 2013

Welcome ●Welcome to Mr. Marko and Mr. Shea, our Kiwanis advisors ●A special thanks to Ms. Volpe and Ms. Manesiotis, our faculty advisors! They are very excited for us to have a great year.

Key Club Pledge I pledge, on my honor, to uphold the Objects of Key Club International; to build my home, school and community; to serve my nation and God; and combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions.

Dues ●If you haven’t turned in dues yet, make sure you give them to Mrs. Volpe or Mrs. Manesiotis by this Friday ●$20 made out to NASH Key Club ●Includes t-shirt and pays for your dues to Key Club international as well as participation in all club activities!

“How do I keep track of my hours??” ●Record your in-club, out-of-club, and donation hours on your spreadsheet on your own ●Include event, date, and number of hours ●For out of club hours, make sure you list a contact person and phone number. We WILL be doing spot checks! ●Turn in your spreadsheets in January and and June for us to check ●When you hit 20 hours, share your document with Mrs. Manesiotis!

Upcoming Service Projects ●Tutoring @ Hosack ○ Every Tuesday and Thursday 2:40- 3:20 ○ Sign up on Google Docs. ●Glow Sticks @ Home Football Game this Friday ○ Benefits the Cambodian Children's Fund ○ Sign up on Google Docs ○ See Audrey Immonen with questions

Northland Book Sale ●This weekend Oct 5-6 ●Contact Ms. Karen Puff, fill out an application if interested. Contact info can be found on the Google Docs Calendar ●Outside of club hours

Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast ● Saturday October 12, 2013 from 8am-11am ●Ascension Lutheran Church, 8225 Peebles Road ●Key Clubbers needed both to help make/serve pancakes AND to attend the breakfast! ●$5 for your choice of regular, blueberry, and chocolate chip pancakes, sausage, orange juice, coffee, and tea ●Proceeds benefit our club and local community ●Sign up on the calendar

Halloween Activities! ●Trick or Trot 5k ○ Saturday October 26th, 7:30 @NAI ○ Health and Wellness fair & 5k ○ Volunteers can sign up on the calendar ●Trick or Treat for UNICEF ○ Eliminate Project to end maternal and neonatal tetanus ○ Put info slips in newspaper boxes ahead of time, then trick or treat with your box on Halloween to collect change! (Papers are online for you to personalize) ○ Every $7 collected = 1 donation hour

Tulip Sale ●We will be selling tulip bulbs to plant around NASH (will regrow each year!) ●Funds go the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society ●Please take some forms and try to sell to your friends and neighbors ●(2 bulbs= 1 donation hour) ●Bulb money due by 10/22 at 2:30 to Volpe or Manesiotis

Looking Ahead... ●Gobble for Cans in November ○ Collect cans from neighbors ●Boucek’s Battalion in December ○ Cookie baking and packaging to send overseas to soldiers ●Carnation Sale at Valentines Day

It’s almost time for Key Club/Kiwanis Spirit week! ●October 21-25 ●To raise awareness about Key Club and the work we do! Includes: ●A service project (planting tulips after school) ●A “Support Your Cause” day ●A Staff Appreciation Day
