The Technology Electro Chemical Activation (ECA) is the process used to generate liquid biocides known as Electrolyzed Fluid (Elixir) – Elixir is non-toxic, pH neutral and has an extended shelf life. “Electrolyzed Fluid” – is water that has had an electric current passed through it, thereby generating a number of oxidized species. This is an electrochemical (or oxidation- reduction) process. Specifically, it is an electrolysis process. THE BASICS..

ELIXIR ECA SOLTIONS PVT LTD. Elixir is generated by ElectroChemical Activation of a dilute NaCI (brine) solution passing through an electrolytic cell. ECA technology utilizes Electrolytic Cells where the anode chamber is separated by an unidirectional permeable membrane from the cathode chamber. The Electrolytic Cell allows migration of ions through the membranes and separation of such ions and prevention of production of high levels of Hypochlorous Acid. The ECA electrolysis process is one in which positive and negative electrodes are submerged in a solution containing positive and negative ions. Positive ions (cations) are drawn towards the negative electrode, where they receive electrons from the electron-rich cathode and neutral atoms or molecules are formed. At the anode (positive electrode) negative ions (anions) are attracted, which give up their additional electrons to the electron-depleted anode.

The Properties of Elixir pH neutral, Non-hazardous, non-toxic, non-irritant, non-odorous, non-corrosive Completely safe for human contact – mimics immune systems natural defenses to kill infectious pathogens The Elixir will destroy all forms of micro-organisms – even those that are normally extremely difficult to kill and have high levels of resistance to chemical attack – such as pathogenic bacteria including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Clostridium difficile (C.Diff), cysts such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia, protozoa, spoors such as anthrax and Legionella, viruses such as avian flu, and fungi. Destroys biofilm – the environment on the internal surfaces of water pipes in which micro-organisms propagate Relaxes after time to original constituents of dilute brine solution No microbial resistance or mutation, Effective at very low concentrations, Ready to use. Multi-use applications – water treatment, surface cleaning, specialist cleaning, wound care Another commonly used methods revolved around Elixir is the ability to kill spores of Bacillus subtilis, a bacterium known to be amongst the most resilient to chlorine.

Biocidal Efficacy Microbial efficacy is normally measured by a suspension test on Staphylococcus aureus Staphylococcus epidermidis Enterococcus hirae Escherichia coli Pseudomonas aeruginosa Bacillus subtilis Based on all bactericidal, fungicidal and sporicidal testing performed it can be stated that all the microbial testing requirements for Elixir have been met or exceeded. Contact times to achieve complete destruction of cells and infectious capacity were significantly reduced in comparison with other biocides. All tests done by FICCI Research and analysis centre New Delhi.

Applications: 1) Dairy production and processing, 2) Meat, fish and poultry processing, 3) Cleaning in place (”CIP”) for food and beverage processing, 4) Agricultural grow-out and processing, 5) Livestock industries and livestock breeding, 6) Waste water treatment, municipal water supplies. 7) Aquaculture, 8) Pharmaceutical industries for CIP. 9) Medical and health care, Hospitals, Dental Clinics 10) Oil & gas industry, 11) Cooling towers and cooling system water treatment, 12) Hotels, Swimming pools, Spas, Water Resort water disinfection. 13) Schools & Nurseries. 14) Greenhouses. 15) Food Processing and bottling. 16) Disaster Response and Aid. 17) Brew and Beverages Industries. 18) Fruit, salad, vegetable washing. 19) Drinking Water disinfection. 20) Fish Processing, Transportation. 21) Veterinary sectors. 22) Marine Industry. 23) Grain and Milling Industries. 24) Starch Processing Industries. 25) Sauces Manufacturing Industries.

SCHOOL & NURSERIES The protection of children at schools and nurseries from the potential of contracting infections is an essential responsibility of school governors and managers in both the private and state sectors. Young children are more susceptible to picking up viruses and bacterial infections and water quality plays an important role is raising the health and welfare standards in schools and nurseries where infections can spread rapidly. In October 2008 the United Nations held its first Global Handwashing Day. The UN wanted to highlight that the importance of this simple personal hygiene routine as being one of the most effective ways of preventing killer diseases. Washing in Elixir not only cleans but also disinfects at the same time achieving the objective of cheap, easy and effective hygiene for all. The benefits of using Elixir for schools and nurseries include: No infection potential hazard from water supply Washing hands in Elixir cleans and disinfects at the same time Everything that the treated water comes into contact with is also disinfected – taps, basins, toilets etc No harmful by-products No asthmatic or reaction pre-cursors No hazardous chemicals No need to clean and disinfect water tanks as they are kept clean by the Elixir
