21 And from them (the Jews) Illiterate ones. It is derived from امي. This is an illiterate person who does not have any formal education and his knowledge is only that which his mother gave him. In this ayah, Allah is calling the ones who have no knowledge of the book illiterate Those who have no knowledge of the book Except Hopes/de sires/fant asies And they Except They suppose (about the hereafter)
