Rotary Car Dumpers
are mainly used for unloading unit trains transporting coal. The principle is that the entire rail car is rotated to an up-side down position, allowing the coal to empty through the top of the rail car.
A hydraulically operated clamping device keeps the rail car in position during its rotation. Gear reducers are planetary or bevel / bevel helical.
Side Arm Car Dumper
A side arm car dumper is an economical solution for emptying rail cars. This way of unloading cars is the preferred solution if the receiving belt conveyors cannot placed as deep under ground as required for rotary car unloads. Since this type of car dumper requires the separation of this rail car to be unloaded from the train, the total time for emptying a unit train takes a longer time than required for a rotary car unloader.
