1 The Burnt Offering Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God

2 The Purpose of the Burnt Offering –Dedication meaning “that which ascends” –First of 5 offerings (Meal, sin, trespassing, and peace offerings) Whole offering burnt, not partially The Process of Burnt Offering –Bullock, sheep, or dove depending on Economic status Lev. 1:2, 14 Without blemish Lev. 1:3 Give the best –At the door or gate near the brazen altar Lev. 1: 3 – His Voluntary will Lev. 1:3 –Putting his hand on the head of the burnt offering –The offerer kills the offering himself, not the priest Lev. 1:5

3 –Skin the animal Lev. 1:6 –Cut into pieces Lev. 1:6 Head, fat, inwards Inwards like intestines and legs are washed –Place on the fire an offering as sweet savor unto God –Morning and Evening Exodus 29: 38-39 Continual offering The Symbols –Burnt offering: giving your best (time, talent, etc) to God regardless of social or economic status –Morning and night: go to God in prayer Psalm 40: 6-8 6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required. 7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, 8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.
