FROM THE BEGINING Jackie was born in 1919 in Cairo, Georgia Beyond amazing athlete lettering in 4 sports Soon became poor and joined U.S. Army After being discharged his baseball career began

THE NINE MAN SPORT In 1946 Robinson played in the “negro” league After that season he was signed to the Brooklyn Dodgers

How It happened Scouts were sent into the negro leagues to find a special player to break the color barrier in MLB A man named Branch Rickey, a Dodger scout, saw Jackie Not only was he the best player he had ever seen but there was something about him he wanted

That Something Special In a meeting Branch Signed Jackie under one condition Jackie had to withstand hatred and death threats from spectators, players, and even coaches Robinson had to promise Rickey he would ignore and take no actions against the whites The deal was made Robinson was a Dodger in the MLB

How He Did It MLB was a huge step up not only in skill but in tolerance level In the negro league Jackie didn’t have to take any threats Jackie was said to withstand hatred from his own will, determination, and for the name of baseball Jackie did not just have to worry about making plays and performing well like his other team mates, but keeping his life

His Legacy Jackie was quickly inducted into the hall of fame in 1962 After Robinson’s short MLB career of 9 years a huge door was opened MLB was now open to many of the great negro players like Yoggi Berra Jackie also proved one of his main goals…that the African-American Race can do everything the Caucasians can.

Finisher This whole Presentation is to educate people on the life goals Jackie Robinson achieved, and to understand that he did this knowing his life was in jeopardy. A huge thanks to the impact Jackie Robinson has on our society today.
