3 3 ArcGIS Desktop 10.2 Installation Guide 1. LICENSING INFORMATION Whether you are doing a new installation of ArcGIS 10.2, or upgrading to the latest version, you MUST contact your Regional GIS Contact to let that person know that you wish to obtain or upgrade ArcGIS. Find your GIS Contact here: https://fishnet.fws.doi.net/projects/gisnew/gisinfo/SitePages/Contacts.aspx 1. Your Org Code 2. First Name 3. Last Name 4: Title 5. Phone 6. Email 7. Address (including city, state and ZIP code) 8. Install Type (New Install, or upgrade from older product on this computer?) 9. License Mode (Will this computer always be connected to the network, or will it be disconnected from time to time?) 10. Host Name (computer name) 11. Operating System 12. Any additional comments Provide your GIS Contact with: Once your license is processed, you will be emailed a provisioning file (.prvs). Save this to your computer in a new folder called C:\ArcGIS_10_2_License

4 ArcGIS Desktop 10.2 Installation Guide4 2. NOTES AND RESOURCES IMPORTANT: With the release of ArcGIS Desktop 10.2, ESRI now allows you to install directly over an existing instance of ArcGIS Desktop 10.1; this preserves your extensions, tools, license settings and other components of your existing 10.1 installation. If you currently have ArcGIS 10.1, please refer to our Installation Guide “Installing 10.2 over 10.1” found here. If installing GIS for the first time or replacing a version older than 10.1, please continue reading... Note: Please contact your Regional GIS Contact to update your license information in the Enterprise Licensing Info System (ELIS). Inform them if you are upgrading to 10.2, or installing Desktop for the first time. Your Regional GIS Contact will then provide you with a license file if needed. Note: This manual installation is the only option if Apps to Go and/or the Automation Script do not work. This is also the only option if you do not currently have ArcGIS Desktop on your computer or if you have versions earlier than Desktop 10.1. CONCURRENT USE (setup license server) sets up concurrent use licensing and includes the setup of a license manager as well as a local machine-specific license. The computer should be configured to contact the two USFWS National License servers first and - as a third measure - the machine’s local license as a back-up in case network connectivity is lost or for laptops used out in the field off-of-network.

5 5  Your license request registered in ELIS by your GIS Contact (VERY IMPORTANT): Find your GIS Contact: https://fishnet.fws.doi.net/projects/gisnew/gisinfo/Lists/FWS_Contacts/AllItems.aspxhttps://fishnet.fws.doi.net/projects/gisnew/gisinfo/Lists/FWS_Contacts/AllItems.aspx  A copy of the provisioning file (received via email after your license request has been processed) and internet access.  ArcGIS 10.2 Installation Package (DVD, Thumb Drive, External Hard Drive, etc.)  (Windows XP users only): Windows XP Pro SP3 (ArcGIS 10.2 is not compatible with SP2): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322389http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322389  CCleaner (download free version): http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download  MS.Net Framework 3.5 SP1 (if not already installed) from: http://www.microsoft.com/net/http://www.microsoft.com/net/  ArcGIS 10.2 Program (ISO File) : Download from http://customers.esri.com. 60 ArcGIS Desktop 10.2 Installation Guide60 1. How do I contact ESRI support? a. You cannot contact ESRI directly b. You should read the errors section of the Install Guide c. You should try to get your question answered by going to http://support.esri.com/en/ and searching the online help d. You can contact your Regional ESRI Authorized Caller and they will be a help request into ESRI Support. ESRI Support will then contact you directly or you can contact ESRI once you have received the ESRI Incident Number. 2. Is RLGIS compatible with ArcGIS 10.1? Yes, RLGS version 2.1 is compatible with ArcGIS 10 on a XP machine. It is being tested on Windows 7. However, the ArcPad parts of RLGIS are not compatible with ArcGIS 10 at this time. 3. Who is the contact for updates or questions about the install guide? Matt Faruolo (matthew_faruolo@fws.gov) 4. Should we use a Regional License Server? It is highly recommended you use the National License Server with a failover to the local concurrent use (or just the local concurrent for laptop users) as detailed in this installation guide. This allows us to be able to support you better by having everyone use the same setup. It also allows us to track numbers and usage from the National License Server. Additionally, with the new licensing set up the regional license contact will need to input each individual into ELIS no matter if that person is hitting a national, regional or local license (see the install guide). Please contact your Regional License manager for more information. 5. Where do I obtain the software? You can download it or in some regions they are using portable drives to get the software to you. Please note that the software changes often and the install guide is a living document. Please check the install guide for the latest software to install. 6. What do we get from the ESRI Enterprise License Agreement? Please see the website that gives information on the ELA: https://intranet.fws.gov/region9/data/GIS/ 22. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
