2 Who is the Dorset Waste Partnership? The Dorset Waste Partnership (DWP) launched in April 2011, formed of the seven Dorset councils, not including Bournemouth and Poole. The DWP currently provides the waste collection and disposal services in Christchurch, East Dorset, North Dorset and Purbeck. West Dorset and Weymouth & Portland councils will become full partners of the DWP in April 2013. Looking to provide a uniform collection service across all areas.

3 Prior to 2011 General waste collections Paper and cardboard collections In North Dorset Area only 2011 and 2012 Collections start of general waste in Christchurch and East Dorset April 2012 paper and cardboard recycling collections began in Christchurch and East Dorset Commercial waste and recycling service

4 We are now able to provide: General waste collections Paper and cardboard collections A variety of collection frequencies A variety of bin sizes plus a sack service for small businesses or those without the space to store bins We currently cover: Christchurch, East Dorset and North Dorset Moving forward, we will be covering Purbeck and will be offering greater collection services

5 In the future… We want to be able to offer businesses the same collection of materials as households once the new domestic recycle for Dorset service is rolled out Commercial waste and recycling service

7 Trade Waste Service - SSP Trade waste service in WDDC since approx. 1990 Weymouth and Portland trade waste service since April 2011 Slightly different collection systems in each area Working together to expand customer base Can provide:  Efficient, competitive service  Excellent local knowledge  No hidden bin rental or Duty of Care costs

8 Residual Waste - SSP Collected using Purple sacks Wheeled bins (180L – 1280L) Labels on own sacks (WDDC) Collection frequency

9 Recycling collections - SSP Frequency of recycling collections depends on location Different household schemes = different vehicles and different materials Some materials have a dedicated round Waste streams collected: West DorsetWeymouth & Portland Paper & cardboardYes GlassYes CansYes Food wasteSherborne onlyYes
