2 DNHC MANDATE “ The DNHC acts as a forum for discussing and addressing radiological emissions from local nuclear facilities and their potential impact on health and the environment.”

3 DNHC CREATION In 1992, Ontario’s Environmental Assessment Advisory Committee recommended the Durham Nuclear Health Committee be established. In 1995, after thorough consultation, the Council of the Regional Municipality of Durham created the DNHC

6 DNHC MEETINGS The DNHC meets 5 times a year. Meetings are held alternately at: Durham Region Offices Pickering Nuclear Darlington Nuclear

7 PURPOSE of the DNHC Review, discuss and improve the public’s understanding of radiation and its related human health effects from nuclear facilities

8 PURPOSE of the DNHC Address questions and concerns raised by its members and the public through continually monitoring and reviewing current issues affecting nuclear facilities (NGSf) in Durham Region

9 Role of Public Members DNHC members are available to attend meetings or to communicate with other groups to address their concerns

10 Radiological environmental monitoring results from studies conducted around Pickering and Darlington Issues Reviewed by the DNHC

11 Groundwater investigations for tritium conducted at Pickering and Darlington NGS

16 Issues Reviewed by the DNHC Restart of 4 reactors with new mandatory safety features at Pickering NGS
