5 T WO PROBLEMS THAT PREVENT EFFECTIVE CHANGE MANAGEMENT : Strategy: What should we do? There’s no strategy so brilliant that people can’t render it worthless (Grenny’s Law of Leadership) Influence: How do we get everyone to do it? Everybody in this room has a theory of influence but most can’t articulate what that theory actually is. And when we fail to execute, we’re unable to improve upon our own flawed theory. 8 For things to change, somebody somewhere has to start acting differently. Maybe it’s you, maybe it’s your team. Picture that person (or people). Each has an emotional Elephant side and a rational Rider side. You’ve got to reach both. And you’ve also got to clear the way for them to succeed.

Begin with catalytic actions to make it easier for other things to get done. 4. Identify and gather needed resources PEOPLE 1. Communicate appropriate aspects of the plan to all stakeholders. 2. Designate the guide team and clarify how it will operate. 3. Obtain strategic blessings from those in key leadership positions

Keep leadership and other stakeholders fully in the communications loop. 4. Provide training for individual and team capacity building. 5. Develop and regularly bring new leadership on board.
