The Board met 10 times: Mar 24 th, May 7 th, Jun 4 th, Aug 3 rd, Sep 7 th, Oct 8 th, Nov 19 th, Dec 10 th, Jan 21 st, Feb 11 th Tasks of the previous treasurer divided into 4 portfolio’s : –G Van Camp – treasurer: Bookkeeping system / Tax / bank document –P Coucke: Fees (membership, post-graduate course, annual meeting) –P Hilbert: Sponsoring –S Van Dooren: Deposition of official documents (annual financial report, change in the composition of the Board…) Organisation of the 11 th Annual Meeting in Louvain-la-Neuve Re-evaluation of membership fees and registration fees –On-line Registration 30 € –Late registration / on-site (in cash)40 € Evaluation of the different Workgroups –Need for accreditation training, recognition, quality controls, guidelines… Collaboration with the High Council of Human Genetics / College of Medical Geneticists –Genetic councelling : standard vs complex –Genetic tests carried out abroad 1 – Activity report of the board

Recognitions in Medical Genetics MD Medical Genetics Laboratory Specialist National Guidelines on the website DNA day (25 th April) HVP : Human Variome Project Work in conjunction with National Human Genetics Societies to establish systems that will automatically collect every mutation reported by a diagnostic laboratory, clinic or research laboratory in an individual country BeSHG : Interim Membership Next year projects

Project: continuous education of technicians, participation to the discussions on the recognition as Medical Genetics Laboratory Scientist Technical developments (with 1 multi-centric survey conducted and published on culture techniques in chronic lymphocytic leukemia) Accreditation, External quality control : shared experience, practical aspects Scientific: review of cytogenetic files of patients included in trials (i.e. conducted by the GFCH) BCGHo

- first organized 2008-2009 - Inter-University course on Human Genetics - 8 days of course + additional work + exam - each day organized by one of 8 Belgian Genetic Centres - Thompson and Thompson Genetics in Medicine - 53 students registered, 39 students took exam BeSHG workgroup on Master course in Genetics
